Position Overview
RL Controls is seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented QA Technician to ensure the quality, functionality, and safety of installed systems on buses/railcars and related transportation systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background, hands-on experience in quality assurance, and the ability to identify and resolve issues effectively.
Key Responsibilities
• Quality Inspections:
• Conduct thorough inspections of bus/railcar installations to ensure compliance with technical specifications, customer standards, and company guidelines.
• Verify the integrity and functionality of the buses/railcars post-installation, ensuring that added features are fully operational without compromising the original condition.
• Testing and Validation:
• Perform system testing to confirm correct installation and functionality of new components.
• Document test results and report any defects, discrepancies, or areas for improvement.
• Technical Documentation:
• Review and interpret technical documentation, including schematics, product specifications, and installation guidelines, to ensure accurate quality assessments.
• Maintain detailed records of quality inspections and test results for reporting and audit purposes.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Identify opportunities to improve installation and testing processes to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address recurring quality issues.
• Other Duties:
• Support additional quality-related tasks as required to ensure smooth project operations and customer satisfaction.
Basic Qualifications
• Associate Degree in Quality, Manufacturing, Technology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience in quality assurance or verification.
• Familiarity with electronic systems and components, with knowledge of IPC-620 standards (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, such as circuit schematics, material tolerances, and finish specifications.
• Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills, with excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
• Certifications or experience in quality methodologies such as:
• FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
• RCCA (Root Cause and Corrective Action).
• Risk management or quality auditing.
• OSHA-30 certification is highly desirable.
• Experience in the transportation or mass transit industry.
Physical Requirements
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
• Capacity to perform light physical tasks, including lifting objects up to 20 pounds occasionally.
